Teaching Project in Cambodia
Corporate Social Responsibility is an important aspect in our work philosophy. We take it for granted that we should give back to those who find themselves in challenging situations, and we take pride in helping make our world a better place.
Both the founder and co-founder of HatzConsult have given lectures in business- and tourism-related fields at the École d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme Paul Dubrule (EHT) in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
In Cambodia, according to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, 19.47% (2015) of the population can neither write nor read, with 11.5% (2012) of children between the ages of 7 and 14 working and not attending school, while those who do go to primary school face a teacher-to-pupil ratio of 1:42 (2017). The gross national income in Cambodia per capita is 1,230 USD (2017) per year, and we see much room for improvement in these aforementioned areas.
The École d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme (EHT) in Siem Reap was founded in 2002 by Paul Dubrule, co-founder of the global Accor Hotel Group, a nonprofit organization. This vocational school offers new perspectives to young, ambitious students who aim to develop a career in the hospitality industry. Every year, roughly 300 young Cambodians train at EHT for management or entrepreneurial careers in the hospitality and tourism industry, both locally and globally. Siem Reap, a gateway to the world-famous temples of Angkor Wat, has a booming tourism and hospitality sector, providing promising career perspectives for these young graduates. Thanks to Dubrule’s hospitality background, the school progressively has established itself as one of the most renowned vocational hospitality institutions in Southeast Asia. In close collaboration with the prestigious École hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland, students from Cambodia can apply for internships in Switzerland in addition to their vocational training in Cambodia.
Further information is available on the École d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme Paul Dubrule website.
