Nikolas Hatz, MBA
Founder & Owner
Nikolas was born in Germany and grew up in Germany and France. He is of German-Cambodian origin; has lived in Paris, Dubai, and New York City; and has visited more than 100 countries. He is fluent in German, English, French, and Spanish, and has some basic linguistic knowledge of Cambodian, Dutch, and Russian.
His background includes positions at InterContinental Hotels and Resorts (IHG), Deutsche Kreditbank, Lufthansa German Airlines, Condor (Thomas Cook Airlines), and the German National Tourism Board. Most recently, Nikolas was head of international business development at CBS Cologne Business School from 2016 to 2017 before joining Career Partner GmbH and IUBH International University as project manager, responsible for both national and international projects.
As for his academic background, Nikolas holds bachelor’s (Germany) and master in business administration (Austria) degrees in the fields of business, management, and tourism as best graduate of the year. Furthermore, the Foundation of the German Economy (Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft) awarded him a merit-based scholarship. As part of his bachelor’s degree, Nikolas spent one semester abroad at Columbia University in the City of New York. His bachelor’s thesis dealt with internal communication and how to build internal engagement in the airline industry while his master’s thesis addressed how customer feedback in the hotel industry can be turned into a competitive advantage. He currently is pursuing his PhD in service management, and his research interests are in the areas of customer feedback, complaint management, service recovery, customer loyalty, and service excellence.
Since 2018, he has served as founder and owner of HatzConsult and managing director of studyvisory. In addition, Nikolas is managing properties and sharing his practical experience and academic background by giving lectures at universities in business- and tourism-related fields, as well as serving as a voluntary hospitality teacher at Paul Dubrule Hotel and Tourism School in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
